It is the language of Bach, Beethoven, Brecht, Einstein, Freud, Goethe, Hegel, Kafka, Kant, Mozart, Nietzsche or Planck. Almost a fifth of the world's books are published in German. German has the largest number of native speakers in the entire European Union. It is among the ten most commonly spoken languages in the world. But is it difficult to learn German? Since both English and German are Germanic languages they have many similarities. If you've already learned another language so far, you have probably already trained your brain to understand new grammar and memorize new vocabulary. Of course learning a new language requires much work and training, but if you like what you do nothing can be too difficult.
