New cloud tool and improved SWMM diagnostics in InfoWorks ICM 2025.2
InfoWorks ICM 2025.2 is here, delivering new cloud tools, improved SWMM diagnostics and import, and extended backwards compatibility for simulation results.
Our development teams have been SWMMing through a number of important updates for SWMM modelers in the last several months. As we noted in our last release post, InfoWorks ICM 2025.1 enabled curve number infiltration in 2D zones, otherwise known as the CNSWMM runoff volume model. In this latest release, 2025.2, we've rolled out improved SWMM file import diagnostics, so you can leverage existing SWMM files inside of InfoWorks ICM more efficiently and with greater clarity. Joining this update is the new ability to convert 2D results to raster and download in the cloud, freeing up your local machine for more pressing tasks.
Let's explore everything new in the latest release of InfoWorks ICM.
There's a new service you can leverage for cloud databases inside of the latest release of InfoWorks ICM that allows you export 2D simulation results to raster images and download right away. This ultimately gives you the 2D results (e.g., depth and hazard) in a raster grid format. The following video demonstrates how this feature works in greater detail. We're excited to be rolling it out to get customer feedback on the new feature before it's officially released. This will enable users to explore and test the functionalities of the 2D result export feature.
It's now even easier to import SWMM files into InfoWorks ICM. This process improvement came from collaborating with our customer success team, who saw that many customers were struggling with log errors in SWMM model imports. When we saw customers struggling with this issue, we got on the phone with them to figure out what, specifically, was causing them issues.
In looking into this issue, we realized the import functionality in InfoWorks ICM was set up in a way that could create confusion about error messages. These log errors were often occurring when inflow data, level data, pollutograph data, patterns and other inputs were empty, even if the SWMM model could function properly without these inputs. So, we created a workflow that significantly improves your diagnostic workflows for SWMM model imports. Now, the error messages properly notate that you can ignore certain errors, but also makes it clear that if you do need certain data for your file, you'll want to double check that it was provided in the import process.
A new 2D depth noise filter has been implemented in the software to reduce numerical noise caused by numbers below floating point precision. This means that some results, which were previously not updated due to the presence of very low depths, can now be updated. This change may have some minor impact on 2D models dealing with very low depths; mainly infiltration models with infiltration surfaces of the type Green-Ampt, Horton, Deficit and Constant Loss and CNSWMM (ie, models with heave wetting and drying). The affected results are likely to be mainly summary attributes regarding velocities and angles, derived results such as Froude number, and infiltration results related to soil properties, such as Green-Ampt moisture content of the upper zone.
InfoWorks 2025.2 also brings with it extended backwards compatibility for engine results. For example, if you're working in 2025.2 desktop version using a 2023 database, you can now open the results from any simulation in version 2023. This ultimately means more flexibility within your modeling department and for your workflows as you work with partners and stakeholders that may be leveraging older database versions.
Finally, in the previous release we added messaging in InfoWorks ICM that will warn users if they're approaching their cloud quota for the month (at 50%, 80% and 100% of the monthly quota). Now, we've added additional messaging when users launch their first cloud simulation to explain how the monthly quota allowance.
InfoWorks ICMis an advanced integrated catchment modeling software. It allows small utilities and large enterprise organizations to model complex hydraulic and hydrologic network elements quickly, accurately, and collaboratively. InfoWorks ICM helps you plan for capacity improvements, system expansions, and emergency scenarios for water and wastewater professionals. Sewer and stormwater engineers, planners, project managers, and consultants use InfoWorks ICM to face evolving challenges driven by regulations, level of service, customers, environment, and operations.
